Laura Greco’s From The Heart—Tools To Transform Part 6

The Story of Our Emotions

Today we turn our attention to our emotions. It is amazing to me how emotions affect us and the world we have created around us. Have you ever noticed that when we greet the day with sunshine and smiles everything seems to go smoother? We find that we enjoy a more successful outcome. On the other hand, if we greet the day with gloom and sadness and pain, we find an equal response to our day.

Then there is the day that seems to start off so well, something happens, a word is spoken, a thought, a memory, some kind of trigger emerges and we are off to a day filled with gloom and sadness and pain. Interestingly, we just accept these swings and fluctuations without question or much thought. I often have heard that our emotions or feelings are just there. We cannot change that. AHH, have we ever really taken time to ponder this?

Have we ever really thought about this acceptance and “submission” of being “victimized” by our emotions? Have you simply accepted that “we all have them” and there is no escape? What if there is another answer? Are you open? Well, about a year ago, I was introduced to information that caused me to contemplate this, and now I share this with you.

First, let’s start by acknowledging that what we put into our bodies has a great effect on our emotions. This is something that we can control. So, let’s ask, “How do you care for your body?” Do you feed and hydrate and move it and rest it properly for you? When we abuse our bodies, even a little, we affect ourselves as a whole, both physically and mentally and emotionally. So Tool #1 Care for your physical body!

Second, how do you talk to and about yourself? This is a good question and often challenging too, since we are often unaware of the little things we say and do that sabotage ourselves. Here, again, is a place where we want to become mindful without judgment. How do you talk about yourself? What do you hear? Jot notes down, record yourself, whatever works for you.

As we listen and observe, do we realize that these judgments and criticisms stem way back to what we have been taught as children, either statements that were told to us or ones we observed others stating about each other or statements that others said about themselves? In any event, these are learned habits, and guess what? Habits can be changed, and you may say, “Oh yes, but in my case they are ‘true statements’!” An you may be right, but you are only right because that is what you think! What I am suggesting here is that if you want, you can change that reality and create a new one for yourself, one that allows for happiness and sunshine and success everyday. Really? Yes, really. I am a witness to this truth.

So, I offer you, Tool number 2. Think back to, or refer back to “Part 2” The 7 Laws of the Mind. One of those laws states, the Law of Growth. What ever we think about grows. What we forget atrophies.

What if we take those negative statements and changed them to positives statements? Then, put them on 3×5 cards, and each day, we deliberately stated these positive statements to ourselves over and over, a minimum of 3x’s a day. We carry them with us, reading them when we need to. We remember another law of the mind, Law of Dual Thought. Thought is a combination of ideation and feeling. We can attach any feeling to a thought we want.

What would change? Yes, our habits and the emotions associated with them…and the result? Law of Subconscious As soon as the subconscious accepts the idea it becomes a demand and it works constantly, 24-7, to manifest demand ~ accessing a reservoir of infinite resources.

And this is a result of developing a new habit! This is possible because we have implemented another Law of the Mind, Law of Practice.

Practice makes perfect, the 5Ps – Perfect Practice Prevents Poor Performance. Our bewilderment of magnificence in others, upon further inspection, finds, as Wooden shares, “you’ll find most of it is practice, the rest of it is work.” With practice of the correct things, we improve ~ on the other 6 Laws of the Mind.

The result? A happier you and a happier surrounding environment. Others around us feel happier and safer. If we are in sales, the outcome would be improved. If we are co-workers or managers, business owners, parents, family members, all would improve. All will improve and it is all in our power.

Change is only possible by first becoming aware, then implementing the desired habits to take over the undesired habits. Remember, it takes time. You did not learn your old habits over night, so be patient and trust the process. Share your successes! Sharing encourages everyone.

Love Yourself, Love your Family and Friends, Love all Creation and Love your Life…It is a precious gift.
