Is Thank You Big Enough?

We hear a lot about gratitude in the age of enlightenment. Being a rebel, it has taken me some time to determine how I wanted to practice and feel (I mean really feel) gratitude.

Recently, I have been overcome (not in a bad way) of feelings of deep and profound gratefulness. As you expand and grow, your range of feeling expands and grows. These new feelings of gratitude are happening because I have opened up to feeling more love, more joy and of course, more gratitude.

So how can you expand your feelings of love, joy and gratitude? By first acknowledging when those feelings are happening. I do this every night by making a list of events, people and situations that I am grateful for during the day.

I woke up this morning and felt moved – maybe it’s my upcoming birthday – to fully acknowledge some individuals for their impact on my life.

I do have this fear of listing people and having an Academy Awards movement when you forget to include someone so important (like your mother). You then spend the next three years asking for forgiveness in every form of media…but here goes.

My mother – Besides giving birth to me, which is a really big thing, thank you for your unlimited love and support.

My brother, Lindsey, and Liam – Thank you for joy and laughter.

Erin and Erik – Thank you for always allowing me to laugh at myself and see a new perspective to everything in life.

Jennifer L, Caren Frost Olmsted, Linda Hunt, Laura Sullivan, Sandra MacTavish, Susie Shina, Shelagh Waters, Kathy Miller, Lucy Rosen, Cheryl Ellis, Kathleen Cashman, Beth Williams, Matt O’Grady, and I’m sure I forgot someone – Thank you for saying that “thing” that impacted the way I reflect on the world.

The Divine – Could you create a word that is bigger than thank you? When you do, Divine, that is what I feel for the connection with Universal love. Thanks for the support, thanks for the tools, thanks for the love.

So the question for you, reading this today, is who do you want to thank? Who do you want to be grateful for? Take this day to acknowledge those thank yous and to acknowledge yourself!
