What Is Your Theme Song?

We often have a repeating story in our heads, the story of how we perceive things are. Some of this story can be changed and updated to make it easier for you to receive what you desire. No matter how long you have been on your journey, you can always update and improve on your “story.”

You can always tell how a story is going to play out by its theme. The theme of your story is all about whether you’ll receive what you desire or be in some kind of struggle. If you are interested in updating your story, a good way to start is with your theme song.

For example, if your theme song is “It’s a hard knock life,” it might be time to update your story–why not start with a theme song like “Beautiful Day,” by U2?

Practical Tool
Notice what type of music you like to listen to and which songs really hit home. Ask yourself, why? For example, if you notice yourself listening to a lot of moody love songs, it might be time to release emotions from a former relationship.

Exercise
Listen to your ipod or the radio with your Soul. Settle in and connect to one of your three Languages. If you Languages haven’t been identified yet, just take a deep breath and connect to the energy of your heart. What Souls inspire your Soul? Then ask yourself, why? This helps create a relationship with the most important individual: you.

One of the theme songs of my life currently is Radiohead’s “House of Cards.” Until I did the exercise above, I didn’t understand what significance it had for my life. Remember, you are being sent messages of love each day, and music is an amazing delivery system.

Find a song that inspires you, that uplifts you, and make this your theme song. Recently, my brother sent me a text and told me if the song Horchata by Vampire Weekend didn’t make me smile, he would reimburse me the 1.99 from iTunes.

Now it makes me smile every time it comes up on my iPod. For two reasons: because it is the silliest song I have ever heard, and because it reminds me how much spirit and love my brother has.

So, my question for you is: what’s your theme song?
